Hi All, In reply to Walter's Qestion... I own 4 lists and am a member of several others.. And they are all slow with little or no postings over the last several weeks.. I kow that they are all working as I get the postings I subit to them. I have found that I myself of late need "more week at the end of the day" to get everything done. This last two weeks I have been contacted by two new family members and have found that they tie to the family from two lines in four states.. It may be some time before I get it worked out but it did add about 8,150 new names to my database.. <VBG> The real work is keeping the names stright.. -------------------------------------- Thanks & have a nice day, Howard E. I am interested in contacting others who are descendants of, and researching the John Bates and Hannah Draycott family. John Bates was born about 1816 at Linton, Derbyshire, England. He married Hannah Draycott 16 May 1837. I descend from their son John A. Bates. It looks like they emigrated to Utah between 1855 and 1861. I have gathered some information on the family in Utah and Idaho but very little so far on them in England. Darris G. Williams
Dear List Members, and Owners, I sent a note this morning to "All my Lists" and to "lists I am a member of".. Sorry if I came across too "Strong "or "As If I Thought" you were all "DUMB" I had not intended it to sound or be that way.. I had written the note to the "person" that had sent it to me and the (Not Any Of Mine) "list" that I received it from.. Yes I did not "proof read" my note, had I reread it, I would have been late to the Doctors.. I tried to tell you how to format your email and how to remove the old headers E-addresses in a fast short note.. I've been using a computer in some form since about 1964 and the Internent sice about 1984 (modem speed 300 (very slow) compared to todays 56k <g>.. As Linda remined me.. there are a lot of you that are new to this media and the Internet... Thanks Linda. Anyway please remember : 1. that the "TO: "everybody can see and harvest" (To= original copy) 2. that the "CC" "same as # 1 above" (CC=Carbon Copy) 3.that the "Bcc": "Nobody can see, and Nobody can harvest it" (Bcc= Blind Carbon Copy) Yes I get "ALL The Spam" e-mail that you guys (on my lists) miss because Rootsweb stops it and then tells me about it (3 times each) once as list-owner, once for the digest mode, and once for the List mode.. times 4 for each list I own.. I also get far to much spam to my personel E-mail account.. up to 20 a day.. I have no Idea how much my Bigfoot.com stops they do not tell me.. <BG> Spelling does not count I only got to the ?? grade <VBG> **Please remember the Lalonde Reunion E-mail fo details** Thanks & have a nice day, Howard E. DeFord Oroville, WA 98844-1382 <hdeford@bigfoot.com> I've removed my "TAG LINES" .
Hello List and All, Just wish to thank you for sending me all these new E-Addresses in this message.... I now have in just this week alone received {and deleted} over 2,000 new E-mail addresses from persons to "DUMB" cut the headers from their forwarded messages.. (AND YOU SAY YOU DO NOT LIKE "Spam") .. PLEASE when you send a message to anyone.. Yes anyone Do one or more of the following: 1.) Address the message: (a) (To: "just one person") (b) (CC: "leave blank") (c) (Bcc: "Add all other Addresses Here") 2.) If Forwarding a message to anyone: (A) FOLLOW RULE # 1 (B) DELETE ALL HEADERS FORM THE ORIGANAL MESSAGE ** To do this place the curser at the top of the header and hit your "delete key" repete this untill the header is gone. or start with the curser at the first line of the header, hold down your "shift key" and hit the "down arrow" to the bottom of the header, Now the hard part hit your "delete key" . You now have "stopped" anybody from "harvesting" your friends E-Addresses. This makes them very happy they do not get "Spammed" (C) Go to bottom of the message and remove the old "TAG Lines" (rootsweb will add new "tags") 3.) Subjects: (a) Do Not use words like "help", "Anybody" "brick wall" (b) Tell it like it is: "surname, date, place, event", (c) keep it short under ten words 4.)
