Would it be possible to automatically insert the word BATES in the subject line, preceding the subject? Most other mailing lists seem to do this. It is very confusing when the subject doesn't specify BATES. I belong to a number of genealogy lists, and I like to be able to see by the subject line which list a message belongs to. Otherwise, sometimes the subject sounds like a spam, and is apt to get deleted. I'd send this request to the list owner, but I seem to have lost that information. Thanks, Fran Anderson
Sorry to bother the list, but I would like a reply to let me know this message is getting to the list. Even as listwoner, the system is bouncing my posts for some unknown reason. Thanks, Wayne S. Ambler

I just spent two days uploading a new surnames list The main family id Petro and the related familes I have posted the names because it has the Deford/Carroll/Ellison/Cooper/Petro line ties whish in some cases make more multi-related cousins. I've looked the list over and it has many related families listed I need to look very close at these names as they will fill many wholes in my records. Thanks to all that helped put this data together, Please if you know someone with a interest in Genealogy ask them to visit "Rootsweb.com" <http://rootsweb.com> and see if there is a list they might like to join,, My lists are listed in the Sig Block of this message. <http://lhnet.simplenet.com/petro/surnames.htm> Connie there is a Woodcock listed "DIPS" you may find something?? Hey all! I'm looking for info on my Agustus Bates, born in the New York Territory. Here's what I know. He was born Jun 29, 1765 and died June 6, 1842. He married Elizabeth Blair (Blow) Aug 18, 1792. They moved to Canada because of all of the unrest going on in the War for Independence. He had a son named David Bates, who was born in Canada and married an Elizabeth Brant (believed to be the daughter of Chief Joseph Brant of the Mohawks. They had a child named Agustus who married an Anna Cook. If anyone has ANY info, please let me know. As for what I know, Agustus is descended from one of 3 cousins who sailed from England. One was a Bates, another a Davenport, and I'm not sure about the other. Thanks for all your help! -Josh Bobbitt kewltoy@earthlink.net ICQ#24675665
Hi, All-- Recently my computer crashed and I lost all my data, including my address book. If I have had any correspondence with any one of you in the past, please send me your e-mail address. I found out today that the one Creed F Bates living in Chattanooga,Tn un 1909, the lawyer, lived many years afterwards. I found that Creed's brother Charles S Bates was working for the circulation dept of the Chattanooga Times at the time that his father had an obit in 1904 and in 1909 when the Creed F Bates obit appears. Probably got a call about Creed's death and made an obit. Richard Malatzky Baseball Historian and Finder of Missing Players since 1976

test Richard Malatzky Baseball Historian and Finder of Missing Players since 1976
I am a Baseball Historian am trying to find a former major leaguer Creed Bates. He was from Chattanooga but left to start his Baseball career before 1900. His father Levi Marcus Bates died and his obit is in the Chattanooga Times November 27, 1904. There are a couple of Creed F Bates in the City Directories afterwards but that is not him. A Creed F Bates has an obit in the Chatt Times March 25, 1909. If it is him, the death occurred elsewheres. He was in Jail in Quincy Ill 1909 but I don't know exactly when.
