    3. Hi, I'm still lurking trying to find bit of information about Bates and Cass Counties! I'm so far behind someone should stop me......but here goes. Is anyone interested in having a page for obits on the Bates or Cass county pages. If so let me hear from you on this, I would like all of the researchers for these two counties to submit obits for your ancestors. But PLEASE send your name and your email address. If they are too long I will have to edit them or you can edit before sending it. Kay Griffin Snow MOGenWeb coordinator for Bates and Cass Counties.

Also, I have information about other Bates families in Maine to share. I am seeking information on the Bates line that owned Bates Island in Casco Bay at one time. 2. MR JACK BATES
    3. I, too, am interested in any and all information available on the Ulster residents, John Bates and Euphemia Robinson, from County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. If any Bates List member can shed light on them, please address it to the Bates List membership. I have a MacCammon and an Anderson ancestor from County Tyrone, but I know little other than their names and supposed birthdates. I have been told the MacCammon name was one from the Scottish Lowlands and has many variant spellings (MacCalmont etc). These Ulster Scots are descendants of those who were a part of the Plantation in the 1600s when many protestant Scots were invited to settle in Northern Ireland by the English government. I have Robinson ancestors also, origin unknown. Thomas John Bates (Jack)

    1. Ezra & Matilda Bates
    2. Does anyone know anything about Ezra born in NY in about 1827, M. Matilda in IL.? Found them in 1860 census in Cumberland Co., IL. with five children, Serepta age 10, Wilford, age 8, Harriet, age 6, Melissa, age 4 and Edgar age 2. I think they were the parents of my grandfather Cyrus Grant Bates born in IL in 1865/66 and a brother, Albert born after 1860. I know they must be some where!! Thanks, I'm getting closer but it seems so far. Dolores

    1. Bates query
    2. Bates in Quebec. John Bates (1794-1867) and Euphemia Robinson (1801-1870) emigrated from Co. Tyrone, N. Ireland to Argenteuil Co., Quebec, Canada about 1824. With them were Sarah Bates (1797-1866), her husband Jonathan Kelly (1797-1866), her father James Bates (1770-1852). Also Robert Bates and Elizabeth Melon, George Bates and Ann Campbell, James Bates jr. (m. Elizabeth Smith) and William Bates (m. Sarah Symenton) I would like any information on this family, particularly about their origins in Ireland. 1805 church records in Argenteuil Co. show a marriage of a John Bates and Elizabeth Lincoln. A son, George Bates, was born to them in 1808. Where do they fit in? I cannot find any further record of them. - Colin Fraser, Victoria, B.C., Canada

    3. Hi everyone, I am the county coordinator for Bates County and also subscribe to BATES-L. in hopes that I may be able to glean bits of Bates Co. information from the people who do research there. I don't have any research interest in the county and since I volunteer for 5 counties (it seems I'm always behind) I just can't afford to buy the reference books that are needed to answer the many questions that come to me. I would like to post one here in hopes that someone will know the answer: =================== I have been unable to locate the 1910 census for Butler, Bates Co, MO. I have searched the entire county census of 1910 for the town of Butler but cannot find it. Do you know where it can be found? Also, do you know where we can go in Butler to view old copies of March 1910 newspapers? We plan on visiting Butler in the next week. If any of you have an answer for this query I would certainly appreciate if you would email it to me. I am a firm believer that sharing is the only way to make progress when digging for our roots. I wish all of you good luck with your search. Forever Searchin Kay Griffin Snow
