Dear Batesers, I wonder if anyone has collected a George Lyman BATES, b. 6 Ap 1865, Hancock, VT, then removed to Waverly, Iowa. He married Amelia Brock. His parents were Frederick William BATES, and Ella F. Brown. Frederick b. Keene, NH, 5 May 1844-son of Jervis BATES and Eliza Ann STONE. Frederick was brother to my ancestor. Does anyone know of the origins of the town of Batestown, New Jersey? It no longer exists, but was (supposedly) a stage stop near the present town of Hammonton.

Does anyone have anthing on Ezra Bates, b. 1827 in NY and m. Matilda in IL.? Their children were born in IL. They were listed in Cumberland Co.IL.,1860 census but never could find them after that.

Hi Heather-- I don't have any information on Oliver or Lucy Bates. But I do have a missing Bates from Saybrook, Conn. at about the same time. Elizabeth Bates married James Warner of Saybrook (1736-1812). She died 1807 in Cambridge, New York. I have nothing more on her. Lots more on the Warner family on my web page. My grandfather was abandoned in a childrens home in Sioux Falls, South Dakota in late 1890's. He was born March 15, 1890. His brother was also left at that time. My g-g-grandfather Norman Francis Bates (1839-1915) was born in Derby Center, Vermont, to Sylvester Bates (1811-1889) and Eliza A. (maiden name unknown) Bates. He lived in Iowa, South Dakota, and eventually California. His father Sylvester was born in Hartland, Vermont, to Sylvanus Bates (1778-1860) and Sophia Cady. Sylvanus was born in Middleboro, Massachusetts, but lived in Hartland, Vermont, and was buried in Derby Center, Vermont; he was a descendant of Edward Bates of Weymouth, Mass. Sylvanus and Sophia had children who remained in Vermont. I'd like to hear from anyone else interested in these Bates families in Vermont, and would appreciate any information I can get on them! Can anyone help me with tracing the BATES family of Sutton Coldfield, please? My g-grandmother BATES married a McCABE, probably in the 1870s. I believe that she is buried at New Oscott cemetry. Just when I got the suit dismissed, EPA notified me that I couldn't complete the Ark without filing an environmental impact statement on your proposed flood. They didn't take kindly to the idea that they had no jurisdiction over the conduct of a Supreme Being. Then the Army Corps of Engineers wanted a map of the proposed new flood plain. I sent them a globe. Right now I'm still trying to resolve a complaint from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission over how many Croatians I'm supposed to hire, the IRS has seized all my assets claiming I'm trying to avoid paying taxes by leaving the country, and I just got a notice from the state about owing some kind of use tax.
