They also had a brother John born about 1826. Their mother was Olivia Loughridge, daughter of James Jacob Loughridge and Frances Reid. She was born in 1807 and died either at Fannie's birth or shortly after in 1831in Gwinnett County, GA. William Philo and Fannie were born in Gwinnett County, but John may have been born in Carroll County, GA. Their father was John Baskin, born Sept. 22, 1805 and died in 1836 in Gwinnett County, GA. Family lore says William Philo hated his stepmother because she made him help with the carding and spinning on rainy days. He ran away in 1843 when his mother's sister, Catherine Craig (Mrs. Adam Craig) was 2 weeks on her way West, and he hid in a wagon among the bed clothes until he overtook her train. He joined his Aunt Catherine and Uncle Adam and his baby sister Fanny (whom they had taken to raise)and made his home with his ! Grandfather Loughridge upon arriving in Mississippi some months later, shortly after his 14th birthday. (His residing with his grandfather is verified in the 1850 MS, Chickasaw County, Census.) The Loughridges and family of Wm. Philo Baskin are buried in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Chickasaw County, MS. Fannie died about 1860. I am not sure where she is buried but I bet she is at Wesley Chapel also. I have almost no info on the Baskins that remained in GA.
