I have a connection to a Samuel Patterson who lived at least part of his life in South Carolina. My firm connection is to Robert S. Patterson, b. ~1837 in South Carolina (Anderson Co, according to his Confed. enlistment papers). He was married to Sarah Priscilla Bush in Barbour Co, AL in 1855 – I found a record of that marriage in the LDS files and it was there I found his father’s name. Robert was evidently too young to marry and had to get his father’s permission and his father signed Samuel Patterson. But I digress... If I follow Samuel Patterson and do some searching, I find that some folks think he descended from a John Patterson who married Margaret Baskin (or possibly Mary Baskin) OR he was son of Robert H. Patterson who also married either Margaret or Mary Baskin. I would love to correspond with someone who has researched this line and has a good grip on who goes with who.
