Surnames mentioned throughout are Covington, Roark, Harris, McClury, Vickery, Bowen, and Pritchard. One of the deeds concerning Thomas Harris, Thomas Aulstin Harris and Margaret Harris is dated September 25, 1800. The other deed is from 1848. One of the letters is dated March 16, '79 (or '19). It's from a gentleman writing to the Baskin family of Abbeville asking for their genealogy. His great grandmother was Elizabeth Anne Baskin who married William Harkness. He gives a brief history of his line of decent from the Baskins. The second letter is composed as follows: South Carolina Abbeville District June 16th, 1836 Mr Sibley & Co. Gentlemen, As there are several interests in those 46 bales of cotton sold to your Mr. Stewart by me this Spring Market IRC with others distinguishing marks which was recorded on the warehouse books which marks were omitted in the bill you gave me. I hope therefore you will be so good as to take the trouble of obtaining those other marks accomanying the weights of each bale and forward the same by the bearer, Allen Vick, so that I may be able to settle with those interested and oblige yours & etc. J.
