His son William James would have to be my grandfather and his sister Sarah Violet would be my father's aunt Violet. I believe there was another brother, but my father was vague about him. He would have been older that William James. Dad did't pass on much information about him. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Surnames: Baskin Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.baskin/61.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am a born and bred Baskin. My grandfather's brother who was many years older than my grandfather moved to America and settled and married. His family are responsible for the Baskin/Robbins chain of icecream confectionary. My grandfather stayed in Ireland and his family, including me, are the last of the living Baskins in Ireland. I live in Australia as my father, William Baskin migrated here when I was 6 years old. The Baskin family were one of the four original clans of Ireland dating back to just after the ice age. My particular clan were the Tuadh Mumhan and ruled the Kingdom of Thomond within the Province of Munster. There were three other brothers ruling other regions. This is where our family started. There is a lot of history, whereas, after the defeat of Brian Boruma, my ancestors moved to Norway, Russia as ambassadors, Scotland as Lords and America in later centuries. All Baskins stem from the clan of the Baischind, (Gaelic spelling for Baskin and pronou! nced the same).
