William Baskin of Abbeville, SC. I've done a lot of research on my line, I have the Bell book, and I'm currently compiling a book for a family reunion next year. If you know of the Ireland connection for this family, I'd love to see your evidence. I've been unable to find any record that directly states that the family is from Ireland and/or where in Ireland - all circumstantial evidence so far. Bell doesn't indicate why/how he came to his conclusions on this subject either. If anyone out there has more evidence, I'm sure we'd all appreciate seeing it! Also would love to see/hear your evidence, particularly these estate records. My 6th Great Grandfather was William Baskin, likely from the north of Ireland, who came to Pennsylvania and then to Virginia. He disappears from the records around 1765 in Augusta County, Virginia, but I have been unable to find any record of his death. The majority of his offspring moved on to Abbeville District, SC about this time. Any help would be appreciated in clarifying this matter, and, of course, I'm willing to share what I've found. I'm currently putting a book together for a reunion next year, so the sooner the better! Thanks, Alicia Watt Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I am a descendent of their daughter Mary Ann Baskin whom married Thomas Porter. Mary Ann Baskin was born in 1859 and passed away in 1905. Thomas Porter was born in Gilbertstown, County Dongeal, Ireland. Therefore, I assume Mary Ann Baskin not only lived there at one time, but may have grown up there or in a surrounding town. I have a Thomas Harrison & Catherine Milner marrying and having (among many children) Thomas Harrison who married Eleanor Guest. Eleanor was my GG Grandfather's sister. Also, Mary Harrison married William Williams Guest, William W. Guest was my GG Grandfather. There's a number of other Harrison's that show up in the tree. If you'd like, I can send you a .pdf descendant report from Thomas Harrison/Catherine Milner so we can see if there's anything either of us is missing, I just can't attach it here because it won't accept a .pdf attachment.
