    3. This has been received from the Rootsweb administration: Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state. Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb. As an alternative to RootsWeb Mailing Lists, Ancestry message boards are a great option to network with others in the genealogy community. Message boards are available for free with an Ancestry registered account. Thank you for being part of the RootsWeb family and contributing to this community. Sincerely, The RootsWeb team If anyone has an interest in finding alternative communication possibilities and/or suggestions for alternatives, please send a note to the list to that effect ASAP. With heavy hearts, Jim and Di

    2. Jim Jackson
    3. We just wanted to encourage you all to make use of this list in your family searches. A large number of Rootsweb lists have been made inactive due to no messages over a period of time. We want to keep as many lists active as we possibly can and your participation will help toward that goal. If you have a "brick wall" in your family search, send in a message with as much information as you have and let's see if someone may be able to help fill in those blanks. Best wishes, Jim and Di

I grew up on my grandfather's (J.W. Gallenkamp) farm My mother was Peggy (Leslie) Carter, married to Max Carter. Mom was the daughter of Jean Gallenkamp who came to Canada with her mom and sister (Daphne) when she was 9. The house we lived in was about a mile away from Grandad's house, on the same farm. I spent most week-ends there, doing yard and farm work. They had electricity and running water, which we did not in our house. I spent many evenings playing chess and checkers with Grandad. The picture you have posted of a couple by an old building looks like the lake (Buffalo Lake) I grew up on. We have some pictures of Grandad and I would be very interested to see the ones you have, if this is the same J.W. Gallenkamp, I grew up with. I am still working on this line of my family. I have only been able to work on this hobby sporadically because I have been employed full-time - until next week when I retire! I know we have been in touch in the past. I intend to spend much more time on my family genealogy. Have you moved to Lake Geneva? I have literally boxes of old turn of the century photos from that side of my family that are unmarked. I know there are pictures of Charlie because a few of them are marked. I would be happy to come out one day and meet you at the Lake Geneva Library if you want to look at some of the photos with me. Maybe you can help me identify some of the other people. I believe they are all family members - just not sure who they are. I would then go home and scan them in to Ancestry. Let me know if you want to do this one day this summer. I would enjoy meeting you. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: melo126 Surnames: Bashaw, Metcalf Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.bashaw/375/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am researching the connection between Charles H. Bashaw and Sarah Jane Metcalf (aka Jennie Metcalf). Charles' parents were Francis Bashaw and Elizabeth H. (last name unknown, but it might have been Kidder). Charles was born in 1850, in Vermont. I have Charles marrying Sarah Jane Metcalf, the daughter of Job Metcalf and Helen Main. Sarah being born in Connecticut. Recently I came across a marriage record that shows Charles H. Bashaw marrying Jennie E. Metcalf. Charles' parents are listed as Francis and Elizabeth. But Jennie's parents are listed as Joseph and Amelia Metcalf. It also states that Jennie was born in Maine. I am reaching out to anyone who might have any information on this relationship, and might be able to shed some light on it. I greatly appreciate the assistance. 2. Hello Mary, How you? I am going back through old emails and found our discussion of butial site of Gabriel Bashaw, father of Sanford Ramey Bashaw. I am almost sure he is in Joplin Cemetery, Montgomery County Arkansas but was amazed to see that his final wife (Thornton) was moved to Mountain Valley Cemetery's section called Pleasant something. I am not looking at that cemetery listing at the moment . . . just wanted to share the thought with you. I may remember to coagulate my thoughts into something worth considering or may not. ha ha. Maybe I had better look up coagulate while I am at it. Author: davidd2152 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.bashaw/107.110.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Janice, If yr the one who sent me an email a few weeks ago sorry for the late reply. Rosalie and John(Jean Babtiste) are my gg grandparents. Here is my line. John=Rosalie Frank=Rosa Hebert Marriage in 1889 in Adams, MA Bernard H=Leona Martin Marriage in 1927 in Adams, MA Bernard F=My Mother is still alive ME Yr Henry was born 10 yrs after Frank who was born in 1867. I'd be interested in any details regarding Jean Baptiste marrying his first wife's neice. This story did not come down through my line, but Frank died when Bernard H was only about 12 so no doubt many stories were lost on my side. I did suspect this was a possiblity based of the following facts: 1. 1900 census says John was married for 55 yrs but Rosalie was only about 5 in 1845. 2. A John and Sophia sister of Julia(mother of Rosalie) lived next to Rosalie and her family in the 1850 census. 3. This is info I received from someone from a different Denault family line who lives in the NE are: Compte de Clinton County, NY Marriage record Jean Bt. Deneau married Rosalie Bechamps in Mooers on 10-12-1865. Witness of marriage was Constant Bechamp. This record has a note: there is an * which suggests this was "only a form of a religious rehabilitation, since the unions were recognized from one to seven years earlier by a Protestant minister or a squire." Maybe this asterik means second marriage just a thought. If the story is true then the witness of this second marriage is both his brother-in-law and father-in law and therefore we can assume this second union was acceptable to Rosalie's family. If you go to the Denault message board you'll see I have been having a discussion with someone on when Jean Baptiste was born. Since there was more than one John that married a Rosalie it can get confusing. Since I live in CA I can not go to either Mooers NY or Laprarie, QC to resolve so I have to rely on Digital records which may not always be readable or reliable. The LDS has a familysearch Regional Library within 10 mi of where I live and I'm hoping to visit them in either May or June to resolve some issues on this line. Finally, the 1900 census states immigration in 1850 but I haven't verified this. David Denault Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
