Hi Jan: I see that you are interested in Bartons in Co. Fermanagh. In my ongoing search for my Ulster-Scot Barton ancestry I have collected some data on Co. Fermanagh Bartons, e.g.: - Milton Rubincam, "Barton Pedigree in the College of Arms, London" (NGS Quart., Mar. 1942), 30:1-6 - "Burke's Landed Gentry of Ireland" (1958), 59-61 - Rev. Canon Sherlock, "The Family of Barton" (Kildare Archeology Soc. Journ., 1903-5), 4:111-113 - E. MacLysaght, "More Irish Names" (1960), 29-30 - John O'Hart, "Irish Pedigrees: The Origin & Stem of the Irish Nation" (1892), 2:510-1. Unfortunately, none of the above appears to relate to my JOHN BARTON born ca. 1756 in Co. Down, married MARY KYLE 4 Dec. 1784 in Belfast, died 22 Feb. 1838, buried in Cross Roads Presbyterian Cemetery near Florence, Washington Co., PA. They emigrated in 1794 bringing with them their letters from the old Seceder church in Ireland. Names of their children in order of birth were James, Hugh, George, Jane, Archibald, John, Jr., Robert and Mary. Does any of this ring any bells? Regards, Bill Barton, Stamford, CT, U.S.A. bartstam@juno.com ___________________________________________________________________ Get the Internet just the way you want it.
