"1759 Rowan Co NC Tax List was found between the walls of the old court hose by Wm. D. Kizziah, Register of Deeds. When found, it was scraps of paper but was fitted together & transcribed by him.This list was made before Rowan Co NC was divided into other counties & is the oldest taxist ever found in Rowan (to my knowledge)......"
