    3. Fellow Bartons: I have been doing Barton research for some time and find it a real difficult line. My line were in St.Louis, Joseph Barton 1783-1822 M Elizabeth Rector 1789-1658 in Ohio in 1805. Their children seemed to center around Glasgow, Howard Co. Mo and there are two fenced Barton plots in the Washington Cemetery there. The children were Elias R.1816-1893,Kimber Louis 1814-1884, William Rector 1816-1851, Amanda 1817-1866. Eliza and Wharton Rector Barton. Wharton 1809-1889 married Jane Warren 1812-1848 of Howard Co.She was the daughter of Edward Warren and Elizabeth Gillespie of Howard Co. They moved to Linn Co and he was sheriff there for some time. One of his sons, Edward Barton 1839-1917, was a Confederate Civil War Veteran I am also a descendant of Elizabeth Rector who was a sister of the Rector's who were prominent in early Mo. politics. I have been trying to connect the three Barton lawyers, David Joshua and Isaac to my line with no success. Thomas Rector, Elizabeth Rector's brother killed Joshua Barton in a duel on Bloody Island in the Miss. near St.Louis.I recently spent several days in the Mormon Library at Salt Lake City studying Barton materials and if anyone has their line I have a folder of their materials. If anyone is interested in these lines, I would be glad to exchange materials. -- Tom You can see our genealogy, over 5,000 names, on the WEB. http://otc.isu.edu/~cady/genealogy/ |||||| Tom E.
