My ancestor, John BARTON, was born at Trois-Rivieres in 1812 to Joseph BARTON and Mary GORCHEE/GOOCHER (GOUCHER??) He later married Azuba BENNE, born 1820 in Canada, and they emigrated to Vermont, where their children were born. I have not been able to find any kind of documentation for any of their births, but have found census information and children's birth records in the state of Vermont. I have found several Bartons listed among the Loyalists, including Joseph, John, James, Henry and Roger Barton. I have yet to find the connecting link though. Is anyone out there researching Bartons in the Quebec area? Most of the Bartons that I have found re-located to the Digby area. I feel certain that my Bartons descended from one of these Loyalists, but I haven't found any Bartons listed in Quebec and would appreciate any help that you can give me!
