    3. I have been reading with interest the information about the East Tennessee Bartons recently discussed, Isaac Bartons family I believe. Can someone who is researching this family please help me with my Marion Barton. A short essay of my research to date is as follows. Any help is greatly apprecited. Marion Barton Research Family Lineage My grandmother Louisa Dalton was born 1 Aug 1898 in Grainger Co. Tn d 12 July 1982 Hamblen Co. Tn. She married Henry Brooks Helton. She was the daughter of Tandy Witcher Dalton and Mary Josephine Barton. Mary Josephine Barton was born 15 Feb 1863 in Grainger Co, Tn d. 27 April 1935 Hamblen Co, Tn. She married Tandy Witcher Dalton b 18 Nov 1818 Grainger Co, Tn d 13 Dec 1909 Grainger Co, Tn She was the daughter of Marion Barton and Nancy M Latham. Mary Josephine Barton and Tandy Witcher Dalton had the following children: Shields Dalton Louisa Dalton Julia Dalton Marion Barton married Nancy M Latham. Nancy is the daughter of Claibourn Latham and Mary Ann McGinnis. After her marriage to Marion Nancy married a second time to William Epperson. Nancy and Marion had the following children: Mary Josephine Barton Dixie Barton John Barton Death Certificate I wrote for g grandmother Mary Josephine Bartons death certificate and it says that her father was Marion Barton. Family Picture Another clue I have is a picture in my g grandmothers things that is identified on the back as "Marion Barton and Ben Barton". Picture is printed on cardboard and looks ca 1860. Two gentlemen look close in age, but could be brothers or father and son. Census Records I have found Marion Barton on the 1860 Fentress county, Tennessee census living with his wife and her parents as following: Latham CW - 58 (Claibourn) James - 30 Lafayette - 27 Louisa - 21 Fanny- 18 Martha - 14 BARTON MARION - 28 BARTON NANCY - 24 Claibourn Latham was in Grainger County, Tennessee in 1850, in Fentress County Tn in 1860 then back in Grainger Co in 1870. This leads me to think that Marion is from Fentress County, though may have been from Grainger, Jefferson, Hamblen or surrounding counties. I can't find him on any census before 1860 or after. Being that he disappears after 1860 he might have died in the civil war. Sincerely. Teresa Helton Garcia Heltotv@northamerica.stortek.com
