Jim, Here are some records that I have found. I hope some of his descendants come forward with some information. I found where in 1785 the Bent Creek Baptist Church was organized with Tydence Lane as its pastor. Persons listed as prominent in it's organization and growth was "Isaac Barton", Jacob Coffman and others. Jacob Coffman was a Primitave Baptist Preacher and was on the board of Trustees of the church known as Robertsons Creek Meeting house in Hawkins County. This would lead me to believe "Isaac Barton" was also a Baptist. I have serious doubts there was two people in this area with the name of Isaac Barton. In 1801 he built a house in Hamblen County, TN. In 1957 it was still standing and the oldest house in the county. Davy Crockett worked on the farm and spent many nights in the house. In 1821 he paid taxes in Grainger County, TN. He was a member of Captain Lane's Company and had 285 acres in Jefferson County, TN (1822 - 1830). It appears that a couple of his sons were mrthodist ministers. Nashville, TN paper dated Nov 28, 1831; Rev Isaac Barton age 85 died in Jefferson County, TN. He had a sister Sarah.
