Larry, Since Alpheus Barton appears to be related to Col William Barton, is there any indication Alpheus descends from Rufus Barton (1606-1648) of Warwick, RI? What really interests me is the mention of Sisson's. My wife's ancestor is Nathan Sisson Barton, born 1791 in Warren, RI, died after 1870 in Calhoun County, MI. I have his ancestry back to Rufus Barton but have not determined the basis for his middle name of Sisson. He was the eighth of eleven children so maybe his parents ran out of ancestral names by then. In my research I have seen many Sissons who appeared to be fellow travelers with the Bartons during their migration from RI and throughout NY. I don't have Alpheus Barton in my online (or offline) database, but I do have many descendants of Rufus Barton available from my web page http://www.angelfire.com/tx/royc by clicking on "My wife's Barton line."
