I'm not sure if theres any connection but my gr-Great Grandfathers name was Stephen Barton he came from Nova Scotia and married Julia Burke from Cape Breton,in 1900 they had a daughter named Clara Elizabeth Barton. He would have been the right age to be a son of Joseph but i'm not sure of his birthdate.
