    3. Hi Bill, Sorry my Bartons didn't ring any bells with you. As Shirley pointed out, there were a lot of William Bartons. I don't know where in Ireland they came from. One of the purchased histories, which we all know could be somewhat suspect, stated that the name was found in the Irish counties of Tipperary and Fermanagh. You've already thrown in another county. I always leaned towards Fermanagh simply because it was in predominately Protestant Ireland. Thanx for trying and responding. And to Shirley also!!
