The families of the Rev. Isaac Barton and the Rev. William Murphy are interwoven. Rev. Isaac Barton married Keziah Murphy, daughter of Rev. William Murphy and Martha Hodge(s) Murphy. After the death of Martha Hodge(s) Murphy, Rev. William Murphy married Sarah Barton, sister of the Rev. Isaac Barton (both children of Joshua Barton and Jane Dubart Barton). As a Barton/Murphy descendant, I am interested in making contact with other Barton and Murphy descendants for the purpose of updating the family records of our common families. As a member (and current President) of the Barton Family Association ("BFA"), I have as a resource the 2-volume family history privately printed in 1988 by the BFA entitled "The Descendants of Isaac Barton of Killaloe, County Clare, Ireland". A copy of the "History of Rev. William Murphy and His Descendants 1798-1819", written by Alice Murphy Sturgess, is in our local library (Harrisonville, MO), as is some research done by a local community member (now deceased).
