Ginny, The only BARTON in my lineage that I have information on is Mary Catherine BARTON. I assume she was born after 1842 since this is the birthdate of her first husband, John Vincent WILKEY son of Samuel WILKEY and Sara FRANKLIN. I also assume she was probally born in Jefferson Co., Alabama. Mary BARTON and John Vincent WILKEY married on Aug. 21 1860 in Jefferson Co., Alabama. They had one child, Isham Wilkey b 1861 d 1928 in Jefferson Co., AL. Isham married Julia Humber in 1880 in Jefferson Co., AL. John Vincent died during the Civil War, it is unknown which side he fought for. Their son, Isham had eight children, all born in Jefferson Co., AL. Mary Catherine (nee BARTON) WILKEY married John Calvin BEARDEN on June 25, 1865 in Jefferson Co., Alabama. They had eight children; George Mathew b 1866, Alfred & Albert (twins) b 1868, James Thomas b 1876, Charlie L. b 1879, Andrew (Andy) b 1881, Willy b 1885 died age 5, and Mamie M. b 1902 died age 1. All these children were born in Jefferson Co., AL They too, married and raised their children in Jefferson Co., AL. This is all the information I have on my great great grandmother, most of the information regarding her came from a family Bible which did not list Mary's birth or death date nor did it mention who her parents were.
