Dear List Members: I frequently see information about Willis Barton who I think was born in Georgia or Alabama. I am also looking for a Willis Barton, but a different one: Willis Barton born June 23, 1820 in Bedford County, VA. He was the son of James and Susan (Martin) Barton who married July 23, 1819 in Franklin County, VA. Siblings of Willis Barton were: Elizabeth who married Adam Mann, Jr.; Andrew who married Jane Abbott; Joel B. who married Mary J. Noble; James, Jr., who married 1) Sarah Ann Mann and 2) Florence Wyatt; and Eliza who married Littleberry W. Noble. Willis Barton married (1) Rachel Neely ( dau. of John and Delilah Swinney) about 1842 as their first child was born in 1843. Willis and Rachel had three children, James F., Mary Susan and Rachel. Rachel died Feb. 22, 1886 and Willis married (2) Angelina Via (I do not know if this was her maiden or married name, probably the latter). Willis died Mar. 5, 1903. I would like to know: No. l .
