Florence Barton 11 April 1875, Varner, Ripley Co., MO; m 20 February 1897, Ripley Co., MO to Boyd U. Wells; died 21 January 1911, Santa Paula, Ventura Co., CA. I wish I had a little more information on her, including how she died. She had 5 children -- the eldest was only 12 when she died. Boyd and Florence were living in Arkansas in 1900 when the census was collected. Before 1910 they moved their family to Oklahoma but they were in California when she died. (Her father and brother lived there at the time.) The family was back in OK in 1920. The family remained based there. I have heard stories that Boyd married again and had a couple of daughters but I can't find information on this one yet. (This man was the grandfather of my mother-in-law and they don't know these details!) Florence was the daughter of Job Downey Barton -- 28 December 1849, Mount Vernon, Posey Co., Indiana; married Sarah Elizabeth Hancock (b Bet. 1850 - 1854 in Indiana); died 10 November 1932, Ventura Co., California. I do not know a great deal about him but have a note that says Left Indiana between 1871 and 1874 to migrate to Missouri and points west. They had 8 children: John B. Barton (b abt 1871, IN; d in Oregon), Florence Nancy Barton, Harriett Azilee Barton (b abt 1877, MO; m J Walter Brown, 8 children); Mary Elizabeth Barton (b Feb 1880, MO; m Mr. Turner); Evelyn Barton (b Aft. 1881; d La Brea, CA; m Mr. Holifield), Arthur Barton (b Aft. 1881), Otis Barton (b Aft. 1881; d Ivanhoe, CA), and Charles Wilson Barton (b 29 May 1884,Varner, Ripley Co., MO; d 19 July 1962, Santa Paula, Ventura Co., CA; m Annette Springs). Job was the son of William Bradford Barton, b 14 August 1813, IN; died Abt. 1892, Posey Co. IN; m2 2 March 1848, Posey Co., IN to Nancy R. Green (14 February 1828, Posey Co., IN - 21 September 1864). (He m1. Mary Jane Jones, abt 1817-1845, 4 children and m3. Catherine Dowd, b 8 October 1829, died 27 July 1915, Okla. City, OK, no children). William and Nancy had 8 children. Nancy had a child from her first marriage to David Duckworth who went by William T. Duckworth Barton. (He was only about a year old or so when his father died.) [I still need to find out the exact location in Posey Co. where the Bartons lived.] William B. Barton was the son of Samuel Barton, b 1788, Randolph Co., NC; d 23 December 1839, Posey Co., IN; and Jane Downen b Abt. 1794; d Abt. 1821. They m. June 1810, in Muhlenberg, KY and had 5 children. Samuel was the son of William Barton, b Abt. 1763, Guilford Co., NC and Ruth Underwood, b Abt. 1764, Orange Co., NC, d Posey Co., IN. They m in Randolph Co., NC and had 7 children.
