    3. Sandy and anyone else that might be interested, Well, as far as I know the Kimber W. Barton in Texas was not mine. I don't seem to be able to find much on him. This is what I rummaged up: In DeWitts Colony--Kimber W. Barton, native of U. S., married, two daughters, 10 July 1831. 8 Feb 1830, Kimber W. Barton, arrived 15 March 1829, married, three persons. In 1840--K. W. Barton was in Gonzales Co., pd. 1 poll tax, had 58 cattle, and 4 horses. on 9 Mar 1849--Kimber W. Barton and wife Margarete is found in Deed Bk A. p. 92 in Caldwell Co. In 1850 census--DeWitt Co., Family # 67: Kimber Barton 57 m farmer KY Margaret Barton 50 f IL Kimber L. Barton 13 m TX Henry Kelsoe 22 m TN I thought I had more info on him but I can't seem to lay my hands on it at this time. Samuel Barton-- Well, there may have been more than one: In the "Republic of Texas Pension Application Abstracts" is this information. "Samuel Barton, Indianola, Calhoun Co., 2 Dec 1874, approved. Age 67. Served as ship's carpenter on board schooner "Liberty" under Capt. William Brown and Capt. Jerry Brown. Participated in capture of war vessel "Pelicana". Wm. Allen, Jefferson Co., knew Barton shipped out of New Orleans abourd the "Liberty". Richard O. Hanion, Galveston Co., as to service. Jacob Hall, Calhoun Co., affirmed service. Barton was born near the city of Wilmington, Delaware, and immigrated to Texas on or about 15 Jan 1836." There was a Samuel Barton that rec'd a 1/3 League in Brazoria Co. (1st Class land grant for a single man). In the 1850 Brazos Co. census, Family # 68: (Note: This was copied from an already transcribed census) Samuel Barton 40 m KY Farming Eveline Barton 34 f TN William Barton 13 m TX Elizabeth Barton 11 f TX Mary Barton 9 f TX Wiley Barton 8 m TX Benalton (?) Barton 6 m TX Neloo (?) Barton 4 m TX John Naham 40 m SC In the 1850 Lamar Co. census, p. 280, Family # 181: Samuel Barton 50 m TN Farmer $1,000 Harriet M. Barton 43 f AL James H. Barton 18 m AL Laborer Hezekiah H. Barton 16 m AL Sarah A. Barton 5 f TX In "Early Texas Landowners" there is this notation: Samuel Barton in Goliad Co., 1st class grant Samuel W. Barton in Live Oak Co., 3rd class grant. This is all for the moment.
