Dear Betsy, I have something on Rufus. According to one of the gentlemen on the Barton website there is a blurb to be found in "The life and times of Samuel Gorton, Adelos Gorton Philadelphia, 1907, page 165. I have no access to this book but from what it looks like Rufus had a brother named Roger. Rufus apparently was one of the first settlers of NY but had to leave because of persecution by the Dutch. As I said, I have no access to this source but you may have better luck. Let me know. Best always Lea Barton
