John BARTON was born in New York, on January 12, 1834. His mothers name was reportedly Tryphosia KEMP. John Married Hannah Smith May 6, 1856, in New York and they had the following children: 1. Laura A. Barton April 23, 1857 2. Catherine Tryphosia Barton May 16, 1858 3. Jessie Barton June 5, 1860 4. Oscar Orlando Barton May 29, 1863 5. Mary F. Barton June 27, 1865 Hannah Smith died August 3, 1865 and John married second on December 14, 1865, place unknown, Maryette LARKIN. As Maryette was born in Michigan, we believe the marriage took place there. Children of John BARTON and Maryette LARKIN were: Cora E. Barton b April 13, 1867 Jimmie Barton b. Octrober 11, 1868 died Nov. 4, 1868 Sarah Belle Barton b March 13, 1870 Bertie Barton b Sept 12, 1871 died young. John lived in Homer, Calhoun County, Michigan and later moved to Stanton, Montcalm County, Michigan. John Died there on October 17, 1877 Maryette Larkin then married Phinias Dodge.
