Hi, I just subscribed to this list. I am researching Barton families in Texas by 1835 or so. If anyone is interested, I have extracted all the Barton families that I could find from the Texas 1850 census. I am seeking information on the family of ELDER B. BARTON b. 8 Jan 1823 (or 1820) NY and was in Texas by 1835. He d. 4 Aug 1884 in Nueces Co., TX. He married SANTITOS BALLI (b. 1833, d. 25 Feb 1912 at Edinburg, Hidalgo Co., TX) in Matamoros, MX on 15 Oct 1848. Elder B. Barton fought at the Battle of San Jacinto and was in Capt. Calder's Co. of the Texas Army from Brazoria Co. from 13 Mar 1836-10 Oct 1836. In 1838 he was living in Galveston, TX. Who was ELDER B. BARTON's family? According to his pension record, in 1835, he was living with the family of J. A. H. CLEVELAND in Brazoria Co., TX. Elder B. and his wife Santitos had 16 known children, 2 of whom d. shortly after birth. Their children were named: Washington, Riley, Adelina, Albert, Lucinda, Louisa, Adelaide, Charles, Anna, George, Virginia, Emma, Lionor, and Mary. I have quite of bit of info on TX Barton families that I have accumulated looking for a link. Any help or contact with this family would be appreciated.
