Dorothy, Thank you again. I don't think I know the name of the book that you mentioned with all the Barton names in it, or where to buy it or have it copied. I do have George McCracken's pages copied from the NEGHS magazine and find Daniel Barton mentioned in it: "Thomas Barton (Elisha,2 ; Roger 1), carpenter, living in Hunterdon Co.,NJ as late as 7 Sept. 1758.... and a sale by Thomas Barton of NJ and his wife Hannah....(witnesses: Elisha, 3 Barton and Underhill Barnes.) He married Hannah Clark, daughter of Daniel Clark, second husband in succession to Capt. William Barnes, of Hannah Underhill, daughter of Humphrey and Sarah Underhill.....Children: i. Daniel, 4, of N'umb. Co. PA, d. in 1808; ii. Elisha, b. 1742; iii. Roger, b. in 1747; iv. Thomas; v. jTheophilus of KY.; vi. Underhill, d. in 1797; vii. Clark, of VA; viii. Amelia, b. 9 Jan. 1745; ix. Susan, d. young; x. Isabella, d. young." In the Columbia and Montour Counties PA historical book on page 568, it says, " Thomas Barton, gr.father of Mrs. William Robison, married Hannah Clarke in England and emigrated to America, landing in VA about the time of the first settlement of the country. Later he moved to the southeastern part of PA, Phila. They had seven sons and three daughters: D aniel, Elisha, Theophilus, Roger, Undrel, Thomas, Clarke, Amelia, Sarah and Isabella. These sons grew to manhood and settled in various portions of the country--Daniel and Elisha in PA, Theo. in KY, Roger in TN and Clarke in VA." Daniel died in N'umb. Co. PA in1808 and left all his "chattels and goods to Thomas Barton and Samuel Barton". My Thomas Barton (Just a one-line will.) So, since you offerred to look up a name, it is DANIEL BARTON of N'umb. Co. PA (which was Montour or Columbia Co. at one time). I had always felt that Thomas Barton (wife, Hannah Clarke) came from the line of Edward, Roger etc. What do you think? Sorry to write so much but there are such contradictions. I would really appreciate any help you can give me.
