My WILLIAM BARTON was born 1 Oct 1801 in Westchester, NY. (per census1875 Sullivan Co., NY) That is all I know about his birth. He married ELEANOR JANE GALLOWAY b. 1806 in Dutchess, NY. She used her middle name and is found as JANE BARTON sometimes. Jane d. sometime after 21 April 1883. WILLIAM d. 6 Feb. 1878 at age 76 yrs. 4 mo. 2 days. He is buried in Martin Cemetery in Parksville. NOTES: The land purchase records state that William came from New York City in 1839 to Parksville, Liberty, Sullivan Co., New York. The 1829 American Almanac: New York City Registery and City Directory shows William Barton Cartman 214 Laurnes St. ( There is also another William Barton, who was a merchant at that time but we have assumed that the cartman was our William) WILLIAM bought land in Parksville, Liberty, township, Sullivan County, New York State. These men all bought property in Liberty Township and the land purchase records show them as from New York City, as stated above. My goal is to find the names of WILLIAM and ELEANOR JANES parents and siblings. I feel certain the above four names are brothers of William. Their son (my great grandfather) is named JESSE DANIEL, most likely named for uncles. Well, this is all I can tell you at this time.
