    1. Re: [BARTON-L] BARTONs of Hadfield, Kent, England

    3. Hi Michael, John Barton the Elder (married to Agnes Holte) was my 10g. grandfather if the information which I have is correct. I have a photo-copy of a Barton tree which has a Solomon Barton (b. 1774) married to Mary Duddy (17.6.1798). The children are listed as Fanny (b. 1800), William(?) (b. 1803), Henry (b. 1805), Thomas (b. 1807) and Stephen(?) (b. 1809). It does not go further, so perhaps Elizabeth (b. 1815?) was a later child who has not been listed. I must say, the reference to Solomon and Mary Duddy are written on the side in a hand written note, and the writing is a bit unclear. There are a large number of Bartons on this tree, back to John the Elder. I got this copy from a Mrs Pam Latter, and it is apparently part of a larger chart, but the writing is not very clear in places. I too would like to trace back earlier than John Barton, and would also like to add side branches to my growing family tree. I am trying to get all this information organised but it takes a great deal of time. I would certainly be interested in any information you have on your branch of the Barton family and connections, and could send you the information which I have, though I may have to do a bit of organising first.
