(Child 5) Childhood: Alice came to the USA with her parents when she was only four years of age. The family settled in Pennsylvania and then moved to Ohio and then to Boston, PA. All within the space of about six years. A lot of moving for a little child and not too easy for her parents either with 6 and more children to also be transported in days when transportation waqs not a simple matter. Alice's early travails unfortunately presaged your future hardships.3 Marriage: Joseph L. Copeland and Alice Barton married on Jan. 4, 1888 by Wm. L. Douglass, Justice of the Peace. Alice's father, William Barton signs permission for her wedding as she is under age. Witnesses were Jas. Edmundson & Wm. Duncan of Boston, PA.4 Ella was widowed at age 29 with three small children; her father having died two years prior to her widowhood and her mother was living with her when Joseph died. Eventually she remarried to a Mr. EICHER.
