Dear Ron and Ruth, I regret I know nothing about Barton in the Beans apart from its position on the map in the county of Leicestershire. I am sending you off-list a scan of my map. I suggest that you subscribe to the Rootsweb Leicestershire list. Go into this site to decide on your list preferences http://members.aol.com/gfsjohnf/gen_mail_country-unk.html#LEICESTERSHIRE-PLU S . I'm sure if you then post your interests you will get a helpful response. Barton in the Beans is only 4 miles from Bosworth Field where a famous battle was fought on 22 Aug 1485. The army of King Richard III was beaten there by Henry Tudor. This was to prove a major turning point in English history for Richard was killed and Henry subsequently crowned as King Henry VII. Thus ended the reign of the House of York and commenced that of the House of Tudor, which was to rule England for the next 118 years.
