Hello Cheryl, There is a small group of us who are researching our ancestors in New York. For the most part they were born in Westchester, lived in New York County and migrated to Sullivan County. My gr grandfather JESSE DANIEL BARTON was born 1843 in Sullivan Co. removed for a short while to Vineland, Cumberland Co., N.J. then brought his family to Oceana Co., Michigan. He was the son of WILLIAM and ELINOR JANE GALWAY. We are watching other names that seem to follow much the same pattern but have not connected them yet. They are my gr gr grandparents WILLIAM b. 1801, m ELINOR JANE GALWAY b. 1806 Dutchess Co..: and also--- HENRY b. 1810, m SARAH/SALLY BATES, their sons James and JOHN HENRY. J.H. removed to Vineland, N.J. about the same time as Jesse Daniel; JOSHUA b. abt. 1793 in New York m. Sarah Weisemer; DANIEL H. b. 1807 m. Nancy. d. after 23 Dec 1892: JESSE b abt 1790 New York m. Jane who was b. Westchester Co. There is a WILLIAM/WILLET T. BARTON b. abt. 1820 n Westchester, N.Y. m. Phebe J. and a JOHN BARTON There were a lot of Bartons born in Westchester about the same time and many of them stayed in New York and a few went to Pennsylvania. Many of those posting on the BARTON-List are from the Southern States. You are most welcome to join our small group researching in New York and share what we know so far.
