    3. I counted 206 Barton folks in the state of Mississippi in 1850. Found 0 Barton folks in Greene County, MS, though. In 1850 Martha Garraway was 22 and living with her parents, John and Elizabeth Garraway. They were in Perry Co., MS. Martha is listed as being born in SC. Her next youngest sister was born MS. Thee were 8 children, including Martha. Found no Barton listed for Perry Co., MS in 1850 Could not find a Garraway-Barton marriage in Mississippi Marriages, 1776-1935. In 1920, I found Angus L. Martha Ann Merritt living with widowed daughter Belle Davis. Martha says her father was born SC. So if that is correct, you are looking for a Barton born SC. They are living in Vernal, Greene Co., MS, in 1920 In 1910, Belle and James Davis are living at Beat 5, Greene Co., MS, with their children, but no parents. I found a Ann Merritt with daughter Belle Merritt and other children living in Washington, Greene Co., MS. However there is no Angus. Listed father of Anne born MS and mother born SC. There is some kind of SC connection with this family for sure. Was unable to find any Barton families living nearby. And could not find Martha Barton and spouse in census. Could they have migrated, but left their daughter with her grandparents? Or did they die? You might want to check court documents to see if there is a document giving guardian rights to the Garraway family. I would guess the most likely county would be Perry Co., MS. Hope some of this is of some help! Her parents were Martha Garraway, b. 1827, Perry County, Ms. and ? Barton. She's listed on the 1860 Federal census for Perry County as living with her Grandparents John and Elizabeth Garraway at age 10 and born in Mississippi. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. 3. Sharon, Wow, thanks so much for looking up all that up! I do have most of it and am turning my search to SC Barton's. I was just hoping for a connection of Barton's in Ms. I was in Ms in June and did get the chance to do research at the Greene Co. courthouse but found nothing on the Barton's. Alot on the Merritt's though. There's a huge amount of Barton's presently living in George Co. Ms., which is near the Ala border. FYI Again, thanks for your time and suggestions.
