My wife Lee Ann and I attended and had a great time meeting new distant cousins. I thought we would get a prize for the family traveling the farthest, but, a cousin from Wales beat us out The highlight of the Retreat was the dedication of a large memorial marker at the original homestead siteof our ggggg grandfather Thomas Barton b. 1723-1790 and his wife Sarah Wilson. They had moved there from VA in about 1769. They could not go any further West at that time because no white man was allowed to cross the Pacolet River because on the west side of the Pacolet was Cherokee land.
