I am looking for Septimus Barton b. 1825 in Georgia. We had the DNA studies done which put us with the line of Joseph Barton, but I have yet to be able to connect him up to Joseph. Any thoughts? Thanks, Linda
Linda, Septimus is a part of Barton Lineage I. There are about 25 separate families in Lineage I. Your representative, B-31 actually matches a significant number of them. It would be incorrect to focus on one family, based on what we know. http://www.bartonsite.org/inc_family_history/lineage__i.htm Here is the table with the results: http://bartonsite.org/Modals/Modals.htm There were two Joseph Barton families in Lineage I at one time. Over time, we discovered that one of those had an error in the paper trail. We now have only one Joseph Barton family in Lineage I. (I'm not sure which one you were looking at) I am working with a man in my church who also is descended from Septimus. He will probably test soon. We'd like to see you upgrade your B-31 test to see if we can place Septimus better within Lineage I. Let's talk off-line about how that works.
