He lived from around 1835 to 1901. He was a Union veteran during the Civil war who spent some time in a Confederate prison camp in Florida or Georgia, perhaps even Andersonville. His brother was Joshua E. Barton. Joshua's son was my grandfather, Walter E.E. Barton. It's probably not the same family.
