Does your John relate to the John Barton, second son of Valentine Barton? This John was born in Price William Co, VA in 1803. The family moved out to KY ca 1811. Also bought land right across the river from Boone Co, Ky in Indiana's Gore. The first born son was James. Also had a William. This Barton clan probably dates back to 1700 in VA, and a little earlier in MD. The Valentine name recurs.
