TX. msrried 23 May 1849 to Carey Ann Reid b. 27 Nov. 1830. Five children born to this union: Vashi Barton, b. 1851-1932 James "Jim" Barton, b. 1855 Thomas Benson Barton, b. 1857- 1932 Dora Barton Locke, b. 1860-1940 Ruben Patrick Barton Jr., b.22 Sept. 1862- 7 April 1930 Ruben was killed in a gunfight in Weatherford, in 1862.
