Thomas who came from VA. homesteaded near Tryon,SC in 1769 near the Pacolet River between two streams. He could not go further west of the Pacolet because no white man at that time could settle on Cherokee lands. On Oct. 15, 2006, the BARTON HISTORICAL SOCIETY, dedicated a bronze memorial marker at that homesite. My wife Lee Ann and I were very pleased to be able to attend the dedication I looked in the BARTON BOOK, published by the Barton Historical Society and did not find Bavister Barton. Did he go by any other name or names or where did he come from before he was in SC? If I can be of further help, please let me know. Wally
Descendants of Bavestor are A-17 & B-15 in the Barton DNA Project Pedigree (scroll down about half way on the long page) : http://www.bartonsite.org/inc_family_history/lineage__i.htm DNA Results (Lineage I - first grouping): http://bartonsite.org/Modals/Modals.htm Line Leader: Mary Ruth Barton (click on her name on the Pedigree page to see her email address) Note that the David Barton, b 1768, Prince Wm Co VA, m Elizabeth McCormack descendant matches the two Bavestor Barton descendants. Helen Roth is the lead researcher that we know for that family. Best regards, Terry Barton
