I think it is very important as a geneolgist to relate to those who may have missed the reunion, the events that took place. Maybe, after reading my experiences, you will want to attend next years reunion, join the BARTON HISTORICAL SOCIETY, send in for your DNA Kit and most of all meet the wonderful people that are your cousins. Friday, 13 Oct. ....Registration. I missed this as my wife Lee Ann and I were still in Brevard, NC, taking pictures of and Sophie Barton tombstone in the Cathy's Creek Baptist Cem. and John Milton Barton's tombstone in the Davidson River Cem. John and Sophia are my great-great grandparents. I also missed the tour of David/Nancy Barrett/Barton's Tract tour. Charlotte Ross, told old Wagon Road Tales, she was great. We ate supper at the Look-Up Lodge dining hall. After supper was over we were entertained by Phil and Gaye Johnson of Tryon,NC.. Their singing and pickin was FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!! Gaye voice and mannerisms had me into tears most of the time. She puts so much feeling and caring into her music, that you know she sings from her heart. I felt bad for Phil, as he was nursing a cold, but, he still did a wonderful job in harmonizing and pickin with Gaye. I just loved their style. It was so great, that I bought their CD. You can get touch with them at aster@radioyur.com Well, that does it for Chapter I. Cuzin Wally, from the great State of Washington

The BARTON HISTORICAL SOCIETY headed by president Terry Barton and his great team of related Bartons, hosted the 2006 Barton Reunion in Look-Up Lodge, which is located just 11 miles up the holler from Travelers Rest, SC. Travelers Rest is just up the ridgeline from Greenville. Over the next few weeks, I am going to recap some of the happenings that occurred. Unveiling a beautiful, beautiful memorial bronze marker at the original homestead of Thomas Barton c1723-after 1790(just north of the Pacolet River and south of Hwy ll, was the climax of a great-great get-to-gether. As Roy and Dale would say, "HAPPY TRAILS TIL WE MEET AGAIN". Wally

Etta's Father's name was vencel(wencil?) and her mother's name was allma(ellma) I believe you can find them listed in the 1920 federal census in PA, and in Minnesota in 1910. I am Etta's sister Gladys's grandchild. I am also trying to research their ancestors. I know that Holets came from Bohemia around 1900 and that Elma's family came shortly before that. I am sorry to say that I am having alot of trouble getting anywhere as their are alot of Holets out there who are of no relation, their ancestor also a wencil changed his name to holets these two met back in the 1930s.
