    3. Jim, More questions about "The Descendants of Isaac Barton.................."!! In what part of the country was it printed? Where might I be able to see a copy at a public library?? Many of the area folks who have written family books here, place one in their local library. Please advise. 2. Hi, Joyce. The Barton Book I referred to was privately printed in 1988 by the Barton Family Association. It is officially titled "The Descendants of Isaac Barton of Killaloe, County Clare, Ireland". Unfortunately, it is no longer in print. The Barton Family Association Historical Preservation Committee is discussing an update, but we are probably looking at 4-5 years before any new publication. One of the problems in any updating project, of course, is that of obtaining the updated information. Unfortunately, since the publication in 1988, we have not really had a central location for updates. Over the last several days, I have received some responses from various "lost" family members and that's where it all starts. Thanks for your posting. Jim Reynolds

    2. Hi, Ken. The only thing contained in the Barton Book which mentions Elizabeth Barton was in a narrative entitled "The Story of Joshua Barton, Part 2, The Smith and the Pigg". The narrative was written by Ashby T. Gibbons, Jr. in 1977 and it does mention that Joshua Barton's daughter Elizabeth married Ambrose Hodge. Other than the marriage, it appears we have no more information concerning the family of Ambrose and Elizabeth Barton Hodge. I would like to know more about your line. By the way, the Barton Family Association is going to hold its annual meeting at Fort Walton Beach, Florida, the first weekend of August. For more information about that and additional Barton info, you can e-mail me at JReyno6299@aol.com. Jim Reynolds

    3. Hello! This researching long distance is new to me as I live in the area where my ancestors settled which makes locating records easier. I am searching for siblings and ancestors of James Otho "Art" Barton and Alice Lucretia ? Barton who lived as adults in Webster Co.,MO near Northview. They were neighbors of the Myers family and their son Charles Barton married one of the Myers daughters,Ivon Myers. My husband's father( Ivel Henry Barton Sr-1908-1993) was 1 of their 8 children. He moved to Fredonia, KS where he married Dorothy Irene Dutrow and reared 6 children. My husband, Ivel Henry Barton Jr., is the oldest child of Ivel Henry Barton Sr. and Dorothy Irene Dutrow Barton. Any help is appreciated! 3. Shirley, My Bartons are from the Fulton County/Bedford County PA also. (Fulton Co. was part of Bedford at one time) I have not spent as much time on my Barton's as the other branches. However, I hope to go to Bedford in the spring with my mother and do some research. You might try posting your inquiry on the Bedford Co list...PABEDFOR-L@rootsweb.com. What I do know about my Bartons: Elijah Barton had a son Harry Roy Barton who married Margaret Whited. They had four children: Roy Harry Barton, Margaret Barton, Evelyn Barton and Rebecca Barton. Margaret moved the family from Fulton County to the town of Bedford early 1900's when Harry died. All four children married but only Roy Harry Barton had children. Roy married Olive Herman. There children were Cynthia Barton and Victor Hugo Barton. Roy died in 1934 on Father's Day in a car accident (article covers the entire front page of the paper and part of second page!) 3. Do any of the Isaac Barton researchers have access to the early Baptist Church records of Washington Dist, NC and environs of present day East Tennessee? I'm guessing that to know that Isaac Barton chartered Baptist Churches in that region someone must have access to copies of the records. I'm looking for a record of members of any Baptist Church around the Watauga Settlement after 1774, around the French Broad River after 1784, and Knoxville after 1795. 3. I have been reading with interest the information about the East Tennessee Bartons recently discussed, Isaac Bartons family I believe. Can someone who is researching this family please help me with my Marion Barton. A short essay of my research to date is as follows. Any help is greatly apprecited. Marion Barton Research Family Lineage My grandmother Louisa Dalton was born 1 Aug 1898 in Grainger Co. Tn d 12 July 1982 Hamblen Co. Tn. She married Henry Brooks Helton. She was the daughter of Tandy Witcher Dalton and Mary Josephine Barton. Mary Josephine Barton was born 15 Feb 1863 in Grainger Co, Tn d. 27 April 1935 Hamblen Co, Tn. She married Tandy Witcher Dalton b 18 Nov 1818 Grainger Co, Tn d 13 Dec 1909 Grainger Co, Tn She was the daughter of Marion Barton and Nancy M Latham. Mary Josephine Barton and Tandy Witcher Dalton had the following children: Shields Dalton Louisa Dalton Julia Dalton Marion Barton married Nancy M Latham. Nancy is the daughter of Claibourn Latham and Mary Ann McGinnis. After her marriage to Marion Nancy married a second time to William Epperson. Nancy and Marion had the following children: Mary Josephine Barton Dixie Barton John Barton Death Certificate I wrote for g grandmother Mary Josephine Bartons death certificate and it says that her father was Marion Barton. Family Picture Another clue I have is a picture in my g grandmothers things that is identified on the back as "Marion Barton and Ben Barton". Picture is printed on cardboard and looks ca 1860. Two gentlemen look close in age, but could be brothers or father and son. Census Records I have found Marion Barton on the 1860 Fentress county, Tennessee census living with his wife and her parents as following: Latham CW - 58 (Claibourn) James - 30 Lafayette - 27 Louisa - 21 Fanny- 18 Martha - 14 BARTON MARION - 28 BARTON NANCY - 24 Claibourn Latham was in Grainger County, Tennessee in 1850, in Fentress County Tn in 1860 then back in Grainger Co in 1870. This leads me to think that Marion is from Fentress County, though may have been from Grainger, Jefferson, Hamblen or surrounding counties. I can't find him on any census before 1860 or after. Being that he disappears after 1860 he might have died in the civil war. Sincerely. Teresa Helton Garcia Heltotv@northamerica.stortek.com
