    3. Living in Graves Co, KY in the 1850 census are Berry (c.1791), William Barton (c.1792) and Wade Barton (c.1793). Is there a possibility that these three are from the same family? I have seen Berry and Wade linked as sons of Bavester Barton of SC. Please advise if there is a connection with William. Thanks, wayne@morrisnet.net

    3. My most solid brick wall, once again: Sarah BARTON was b in NC, don't know what county, 29 Aug 1760; married, in Sullivan Co TN/NC, 30 Nov 1779, Joseph COLE, son of Joseph COLE and Ruth CROSS, who moved to the Holston River area around 1780; died around 1855 in Wilson Co TN. Her birth and marriage dates are from her application for a pension for Joseph's Revolutionary War service. The only other BARTON I can find in Sullivan Co at that time was a Thomas, who bought land in 1790; possibly the same Thomas was on the county tax list of 1796. I've researched the Isaac/Joshua line and the Thomas/David (Oldham) lines extensively without finding a connection, despite the fact that the LOONEY family settled on the Holston (David LOONEY's land was adjacent to Thomas BARTON's); and a John BARTON witnessed the will of Robert LOONEY in Botetourt Co VA in 1749; and LOONEYs and BARTONs connected elsewhere, notably in South Carolina. 3. OK, let me try my Barton. I surely hope someone out there can help me. It came down through the family that he was born in Albany, NY. He possibly has a brother, Samuel, 2-3 yrs. older than he that also came to TX. One questionable source that I have found has his name listed as John E. B. Barton. All other documents have his name as Elder B. or E. B. Barton. Seeking info and contact with descendents of ELDER B. BARTON b. 8 Jan 1823 (or 1820) NY and d. 4 Aug 1884 Nueces Co., TX. Elder B. m. Calder's Co. of the Texas Army from Brazoria Co. 13 Mar 1836-10 Oct 1836. In 1838 he was living in Galveston, TX. Who was ELDER B. BARTON's family? According to his pension record, in 1835, he was living with the family of J. A. H. CLEVELAND in Brazoria Co., TX. He and his wife had 16 known children. 1. BARTON'S - SC TO GA
    2. Robert Park
    3. A family Bible was discovered that stated Dorcus Barton was born July 1799 in Pendleton District, South Carolina. She married Robert Gale. Their first child Emiline was born 1817 in Morgan County, Georgia. She and Robert later moved to Covington County, MS, Washington Parish, LA, and finally Hinds County, MS. I am looking for her parents. I suspect she was the granddaughter of David Barton and Ruth Oldham. She maybe the daughter of David and Ruth's son named Presley Barton. Presley died in 1822 in Morgan Co. GA., leaving a will, which I have been unable to obtain a copy of. The conclusions concerning Dorcus' parentage maybe wrong. Can anyone help me prove or disprove the lineage? Thanks. Katie

James Barton was taken and brought before this Court on suspicion of feloniously stealing two negro slaves, and being examined on behalf of our Sovereign Lord, The King, on consideration whereof the Court is of the opinion that ther said James Barton ought to be remanded to prison for a further examination, and that he be admitted to bail on giving good security for his appearance to receive further examination, and that the slaves be confined until such examination or admission to bail."

    3. Hi Jerry, My BARTON's were from Edgefield, SC to AL. I am at a stand still on Enoch J. BARTON born 1819 in Edgefield, SC. According to family stories his mother died and his father remarried. He didn't get along with his step-mother so he ran away at age 14 or 15. I don't know if he went by himself or if he went with someone. He was in Chambers County, AL in 1840. In 1860, he was in Randolph County, AL and stayed there until his death in 1896. Do you have an Enoch J. Barton in your line anywhere? 3. I am interested in anyone who has a Peter BARTON in thier line from NY. He would have been born in the latter half of the 1700's probably. There is a Peter BARTON who had a daughter named Sarah who married a John Milton BALL and they moved to Michigan in the 1830's. A autobiography says her father was Peter BARTON a farmer of New York State. Sarah was born about 1807-1809. My ancestor Thomas BARTON b. 3 Jul 1805 in NY may be related as I have found several connections of him to the BALL family. Any help would be APPRECIATED!!!!!!! Thanks, Donna Barton Merrill dmerrill@fastlane.net
