Most Bartons of Westchester county descended from Roger Barton who came over from England around 1659 (perhaps from Lancaster) and settled in New Amsterdam (New York). My research shows my lineage as follows: 1. Roger Barton 1620 to 1688 or '98 2. Roger Barton 1666 to 1716 3. Roger Barton 1695 to 1757 4. Isaac Barton ???? to 1800 5. Jeremiah Barton 1765 to 1815 (probably born in Yorktown, Westchester Co) 6. Jeremiah Barton 1813 to 1879 (Born in Yorktown, Westchester Co) 7. Joshua Barton 1832 to 1882 (Born in Sing Sing, Westchester Co)) 8. Walter E. E. Barton 1878 to 1955 (Born New Haven, CT) 9. Evelyn Jessie Barton 1907 to 1984 (my mother) I may be missing a generation between 5 and 6, also would like more details about the mysterious #4 (Isaac). Any data you have, I'd find interesting. 2. I did a search of the Vermont archives at http://132.198.151.39/arccat/arccat.htm and came up with the following record: Civil War letters written by four brothers, Hiram, Lyman, Theodore, and William Barton to their sister Mary M. Barton at Larabee's Point in Shoreham and to each other. Hiram H. Barton was born in 1836 at Crown Point, N.Y. He served in Co. C, 96th New York State Volunteers. He died at Bridport, Vt. William P. Barton was born in 1833. He enlisted in the 14th Vermont Regiment, Co. I There is additional information in this record about cause of death and burial information, so if these are your ancestors, you may want to take a look! Hope this helps someone!
