At her site were quite a few Barton GEDCOM files for downloading. Her ancestry was from Roger Barton of Westchester Co, NY down thru the Loyalist branch that moved to Canada. Tried recently to locate her webpage but the address has apparently changed. I do have some of her GEDCOM files. If you can not locate her, contact me and I'll try to organize the files and see if any would be of help. Douglas Losty
I have just starting researching my great-grandmother's line. Her name was Charlotte May Barton, born May 13, 1851 in Crete, Il, She died Jun 23, 1896 in Roxbury,Ks Her father's name was Rufus Barton, and her mother's name was Sallie Dutton. She had at least one brother W. Atkin, and may have had another brother and two sisters, Clara and Sadie. I know nothing else about her family. If any one out there knows of a connnection, I would be glad to hear of it. Thanks.
Sorry, I don't think that my Barton's are from Quebec. I have just started researching them, though, so I really don't know much about them. My great-grandmother was Charlotte May Barton from Crete, Il. I know her father's name - Rufus and her mother - Sallie Dutton. She was born May 13, 1851 in Crete, Il and died in Canton, Ks Jun 23, 1896. I know that she had a brother W. Atkin, and maybe one more brother and two sisters. This is really all I know at this point. I appreciate the inquiry. If I found out a connection, I will let you know. Thanks, Lynnette Pfannenstiel
My ancestor, John BARTON, was born at Trois-Rivieres in 1812 to Joseph BARTON and Mary GORCHEE/GOOCHER (GOUCHER??) He later married Azuba BENNE, born 1820 in Canada, and they emigrated to Vermont, where their children were born. I have not been able to find any kind of documentation for any of their births, but have found census information and children's birth records in the state of Vermont. I have found several Bartons listed among the Loyalists, including Joseph, John, James, Henry and Roger Barton. I have yet to find the connecting link though. Is anyone out there researching Bartons in the Quebec area? Most of the Bartons that I have found re-located to the Digby area. I feel certain that my Bartons descended from one of these Loyalists, but I haven't found any Bartons listed in Quebec and would appreciate any help that you can give me! Hoping that some of this looks familiar to someone out there ... Bambi Dingman - Histcreatr@aol.com Somerset County, New Jersey, U.S.A.

Here is what I have about my John Barton. He was born January 12, 1834 per family records, reportedly in New York State. There is a possiblility he was from New Fane, Niagara County. That from a family record, that has proven to be wrong on some other points. On May 6, 1856 he married Hannah Smith, and by her had five children, Laura A. Catherine Tryphosia, Jessie, Oscar Orlando and Mary F. I think Jessie and Mary died young, and Hannah died August 3, 1865. On December 14, 1865, he married, probably in Michigan, Maryette Larkin, and they are found in Homer, Calhoun County, Michigan in the 1870 Census. They had four children, one of whom was my great grandmother. Her name was Sarah Belle Barton. Apparently work in Stanton, Montcalm County Michigan called and the family moved there about 1876. He died October 17, 1877, aged 42 years, of Typhoid fever. I have seen his grave in the little town of Stanton. His wife remarried, interestingly, a man from back in Homer Michigan. I was contacted by another man with an Oscar Barton in his tree also, but we could not connect. I have found very few Oscars in my research, and they all seem to come in the Barton family. You just have to wonder if there is a connection. I will keep your notes and let you know if I find anything. Ted Holden

After re-reading your original post, I noticed an OSCAR BARTON on the list. Not sure why I didn't see that before, but my John Barton named one of his sons OSCAR. I'm not sure that was all that common a name back then, but I will take any clue I can get. Ted Holden
You certainly should apologize. That was a terrible, terrible thing you did. You Rufus Bartons are all alike. Dear List Members, All this started when I posted my querie for Thomas J. BARTON to the list. Someone was nice enough to reply and when I repiled to her I didn't realize it would go back to the list as I assumed she replied to me privately. I am sorry this has cause so much grief but it was an honest mistake on my part. I will be more careful in the future. Harriet was bron 1842 and died 1921. I want to send for her death record but seem to get a date other than 1921. Her children were Harvey born 1865 Ella born 1867 Rosa born 1869 (my grandmother) Jerome born 1871 Eunice born 1873 Etta born 1879 Bert born 1881 Harriet is buried in Woodlawn Cemetary, Berne, NY Albany County Thanks Dorothy Lydia
Hi Lea Would you mind keeping my BARTON somewhere just in case you see a similiarity. I cannot locate him. Henry BARTON married Mary CORNELL and had a daughter Harriet BARTON who was my great grandmother. Harriet lived in Berne, NY, Albany County. Harriet was married to Isaac WATSON. I have looked Albany County, Greene County, Schoharie County. Find some BARTON's but not the right ones. Thanks Lydia
Sorry, I could not find a John during that time period in my family. However, I have kept some old records of other Bartons in NY and Vt in storage that turned out to be dead ends for me. I will put your letter in my files and if I find any reference I will be glad to send it. I know how frustrating it can be to know that an individual exists but you cant find him or her. Best of luck in your search Lea

I have to personally apologize for the last posting by me as it was intended to go directly to Debi and not to the entire list. I am very sorry about that, but it stands as a reminder that if you don't change the "to" address on your emails in response to mail on the list it goes back to the list.
