Does anyone have information on the BARTONs who lived in Belmont Co, OH in the early 1800's? My grt grt grandmother, Barbra Ellen BARTON SWAIN b July 1847 stated that she and her parents (Dars? and Mary) were born in Ohio. Her death certificate says they were from Wheeling, which would be WV, but I think they were from the Ohio side of the river, as I can find no census records for them in WV. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated! Linda Douglas
The family of one Willis is found on Debby Barton Backs web site HTTP://WWW.geocities.com/Heartland/Valley/5277/ Sounds as if your Marion may have been a descendant of William Henry Barton. I have an Issac Barton, b, oct 5, 1848. he had a son, William Banks Barton born in the 1880's. If you go to Juniata County Pa's Web site in the Cemetery records section, there are some Bartons listed. I believe Issac Barton born in 1848 is related to Issac Barton born in 1790 but have not been able to connect yet. Mary

Sherry, You may want to look at the Hood County,TX web site at http://www.genealogy.org/~granbury/index.htm , you can search the site by requesting a specific surname and you get all the county records they have online for that surname. For example, there are cemetery surveys, county records, school records, tax records, census records, etc. Under scholastic (school) records J. Barton, Dasy Barton, Fannie Barton, F.P. Barton, and Quillin Barton are all listed as the children of B.A. Barton. Was he the husband of Eliza Francis? There are also birth records for Fannie Barton and Charley Hickey. Linda Brinkley

Hi, I don't think that this is the same Charlotte Barton. Mine married James W. Darling, and I do have a list of their children. I appreciate your trying every link - that is what I am trying to do also. Good Luck. Lynn Pfannenstiel
I don't think so, but I really don't know any more info than Rufus and Sallie Barton in Crete, Il about 1851. Thanks for replying though. lynn pfannenstiel

I am seeking information on Isaac Barton and his son William Barton. They have been found in the Maine VR, thanks so much to Paul Barton. William, b. 9 September, 1790 was the 5th child of Isaac and Hepsibah (Davis) Barton. I have found them in Cortland County, New York, Towns of Cincinnatus and Homer in the 1820 US Census along with another son of Isaac's, Isaac Jr. If any one has any information on Isaac or William Barton I would appreciate receiving it. Thank you, Steven Bassett
Unfortunately, I do not have any information about the family prior to William W. Barton. On the 1920 Hood Co. TX Census, information given the census taker indicated that William W. was born in Arkansas and that both his parents were also born in AR. However, one of his sons thought William W. may have been born in Georgia. Linda Brinkley

Her name was Charlotte May Barton, born May 13, 1851 in Crete, Il, >> This posting caught my eye, as I have a relative named Charlotte May Haglend whose mother's maiden name was BARTON. Sarah Belle Barton was the mother, and she was sometimes called Sadie. Sarah, born March 13, 1870, in Homer, Calhoun County Michigan, was the daughter of John Barton and Maryette Larkin. John was born January 12, 1834 in New York and Married first Hannah Smith by whom he had the following children. Laura A. Barton b April 23, 1857 Catherine Tryphosia Barton b May 16, 1858 Jessie Barton, b June 5, 1860 Oscar Orlando Barton, b May 19, 1863 Mary F. Barton b June 27, 1865 Children of John Barton and Maryette Larkin were: Cora E. Barton, b April 13, 1867 Sarah Belle Barton, b March 13, 1870 and Jimmie and Bertie who both died young. The name similarity may just be coincidental, but I thought I would try. Ted Holden
