Dear Barton descendant, I'm not sure this will help but may give you some clues. My ancestor Michael Barton, b. PA or VA ca 1785, d. 29 March 1861, Mercer Co., OH, and his wife Barbara Kepler, b. 21 Sept 1797 Woodberry Twp., Bedford Co., PA, had ten ch., one of whom was James Barton, b. 29 Dec 1825 Liberty Twp., d. 21 nov 1905, Richland Co., OH, m. 2 Aug 1850 Knox Co., OH, to Diantha Wilson. The reason I mention this is that one of his sisters also m. a Wilson, Andrew Wilson, Jr., oldest s/o Andrew Wilson and Betsy Higgins. The Wilson family later went to Lucas Co., Iowa from liberty Twp., Knox Co., OH. Ref. 1803 History of Knox Co., OH (Mt. Vernon, OH, A.A. Graham & Co., 1881. Hope this helps. Ms Case states that the source of this list is: Delinquent Tax Lists, Circuit Court Clerk, Montgomery County, Archival & Information Services Division, Library of Virginia. "A List of Delinquents in the Bounds of Cornelius Brown a Deputy Sheriff in the County of Montgomery for the year 1787. "John Barton - " This information can be significant for several reasons, one of them being that it often means that the person has moved on into another location by this date.

    1. [BARTON-L] Re: Joseph BARTON ???
    2. I have a JOSEPH BARTON, born maybe c. 1755, died 1817 in Pendleton District, SC. He had a son David b. Nov. 17, 1777, d. 1859. As far as I know, he did not have a son named Thomas. Other children: James, Rebecca, Cassey, Pheby. I only have information about David's line. An attempt was made to connect this line to other SC Barton lines and to Thomas Barton/Sarah Wilson, but no concrete evidence has ever proven a connection. > In researching my Barton family I have tied so far unsuccessfullly to locate > information about my 6 g grandfrather Joseph Barton. 1. [BARTON-L] Joseph Barton???
    2. In researching my Barton family I have tied so far unsuccessfullly to locate information about my 6 g grandfrather Joseph Barton. According to family Bible records he was a Revolutionary Soldier. I don't know wheter loyalist or patriot. He had at least 2 sons-David and Thomas born in South Carolina. (David b. 1777 and Thomas b. 1786) Some references link Joseph to the Thomas Barton/Sarah Wilson and family sources document a relationship but I have not been able to make the connection. I have tried researching the coastal Carolina Bartons and have found several Josephs but still not able to connect to my family. I would appreciate any help or suggestions and will gladly share the information I have.
