On the IGI sheets for MA Bartons there are no parents listed for Austin shows his marriage in 1835. Two marriages one to Lucy W. King 1835 and Emiline J. Goodell 1859 but whoever submitted his birth made an error for it says 1835. but it does list Norfolk, Weymouth. You are correct. I too have found many John's in the 1850 census in NY. My problem is how do I know who is who and I cannot find my William with a Joh Barton.
