(Child 5) Childhood: Alice came to the USA with her parents when she was only four years of age. The family settled in Pennsylvania and then moved to Ohio and then to Boston, PA. All within the space of about six years. A lot of moving for a little child and not too easy for her parents either with 6 and more children to also be transported in days when transportation waqs not a simple matter. Alice's early travails unfortunately presaged your future hardships.3 Marriage: Joseph L. Copeland and Alice Barton married on Jan. 4, 1888 by Wm. L. Douglass, Justice of the Peace. Alice's father, William Barton signs permission for her wedding as she is under age. Witnesses were Jas. Edmundson & Wm. Duncan of Boston, PA.4 Ella was widowed at age 29 with three small children; her father having died two years prior to her widowhood and her mother was living with her when Joseph died. Eventually she remarried to a Mr. EICHER. Despite all these hardships, Ella lived to be 89 years old, longer than her husbands and children and several grandchildren!Last Modified 18 Jun 1999 Created 4 Jan 2000 by Cora Ott in Reunion for Mac - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Contents * Index * Surnames * Contact Äp¨®@Ä‚#(‚ ‹±x› äh‰Ä @¨HÄ‚#(› äx In a message dated 01/04/0 1:52:35 PM, Bob&Karin@huskynet.com writes: >BARTON ... Finlay, 102 Vannoy Street, Greenville, SC" gives some additional information:  This sheet was apparently typed on February 27, 1957, as she states that Mary Eveline Kendrick is still living on that date, as opposed to the 1962 date given by Andrea. The name of her father is given more fully as "John Wesley Watson Walker" and has a notation which reads " Grandfather ISHAM KENDRICK was married second on 17 April 1788 to ELIZABETH DUNCAN, Warren County, NC." and "Data collected from the Family Bible and Tombstones" She also gives William Isham Kendrick's second wife as Julia BROCK Gilreath. and **********Mary Ann Barton is shown in Willie Walker Findlay's record as born 23 May 1837 - died 15 October 1857 and child BENJAMIN F. KENDRICK born 12 October 1857 - died 9 June 1858. I hope this helps somebody.  Now, does anybody need the Bible record of William Isham's father, Alston Wood Kendrick and his wife Susan (Susannah) Few? Linda Smith Murray     >

He is on the 1850 census there, age 21 or 27, wife Susan, age 22 and baby Larkin, age 6/12. They have another son, Andrew. Then, something happens. They both must die. The children were raised by a Frances Barton, probably Aunt, and is with them in 1860 in Harris County. Would love to find how this Thomas Alford fits into the Alford family of Troup County and what happened to them.
