OK Ladies and Gentlemen, I've very excited. I was able to find a little bit more information on my Bartlett line this week. I went to the Paducah Public Library and found my great-great grandfather listed on the McCracken Co. 1920 Census. His name is William Webster Bartlett b. 1870 in or near Indianapolis, IN. d. Oct. 5, 1933 in Paducah, McCracken Co., KY m. Lula Schmitt b. 1873 Cincinnati, OH d. 1943 in Paducah, McCracken Co., KY they had 6 children all born in Paducah: Carl William b. Sept. 7, 1902 d. April 17, 1982 Mabel b. 1903 or 1904 Rebecca b. 1907 or 1908 John b. 1910 or 1911 Katherine b. 1913 or 1914 Rollie b. 1916 or 1917 Carl Wm. (my great grandfather) m. Flora Wade they had 3 children: William Carl b. April 7, 1928 (my grandfather) Judy Bartlett Dowell Martha Bartlett Bundy As the story goes, William Webster left Indianapolis when he was 14, around 1884 because his mother had died and his father remarried. William didn't like his step-mother so he left home never to return. From what my great great Uncle Rollie says he didn't even want to talk about his father. My great grandfather (Carl) did get him to talk about it once and he went to IN to look for William's father. Unfortunately, no one knows if he w able to find anything. So, this is where I'm at. If anyone knows anything about Bartletts in IN, especially in or near Indianapolis please let me know and especially if it involes the name William. As far as I can tell the name William has been used in the family line since William Webster (just and interesting tidbit). Thanx for any help that you may be able to provide. And thanx to Ruth and Tammy for all their hard work. If there's anything I can do for anyone out there please feel free to let me know. I plan on visiting the library and the Family History Center this week. Happy Hunting, Lorie :-)
